We Indian girls love long hair. But did you know that keeping long strands shiny and healthy is not as easy as it may seem. Humidity, scorching sun, sweat can really weaken your roots and harm your long locks. The longer the hair, the more prone it is to breakage, so you need to give your locks extra dose of TLC. Here’s how:
- Shampoo your hair thrice a week during summers and monsoons to keep sweat and grease away.
- Instead of directly applying on the strands, lather up the shampoo in your palms and apply on the scalp, and massage in before taking it down gently through the strands. Wash with tepid water.
- Use a conditioner that has UV protection. You can also use a hair serum post wash at the ends to keep them strong and avoid split ends. They also keep your hair from tangling.
- Try the black shine shampoo variant to give your dark tresses extra verve.
- Even though you love the length, but get a trim every six weeks to keep them looking healthy and without split ends.
- Once a week deep condition your hair with a hair mask to strengthen the strands.
- Massage your scalp with coconut or olive oil to improve blood circulation to the roots, at least an hour before you shampoo.
- Don’t drag your hair when combing and use a wide toothed comb to take the kinks out. Once hair is dry, use a paddle brush to smoothen the cuticles and add extra shine to hair.
- Let your long hair air-dry. Blow-drying too much can dry out the long strands leading to breakage.
- Give some swishing movement to your hair by getting some long layers cut at the back. Go for a professional hair colour job to bring out your hair’s vibrancy.
